Key Of Hecate VI

Hecate is a goddess in Ancient Greek mythology, most often shown holding a pair of torches, a key, and in later periods depicted as triple-bodied which is where the famous imagery of the triple moon goddess is pulled from. She is variously associated with crossroads, the liminal space between life and death, night, light, magic, witchcraft, the Moon, knowledge of herbs and poisonous plants, graves, ghosts, and necromancy. Her functions extended beyond the realms of the heavens, earth, the seas, and the underworld.

In her form as a triple-goddess, Hecate was strongly associated with the crossroads. She was portrayed as a liminal goddess who can cross from the underworld to the physical world with ease. Her liminality stemmed from her parentage and mythology, where she was able to move between her position as a Titan and a goddess. Her position as a liminal figure and a goddess of roads and entryways illuminates her position as a protector.

In ancient times Onyx was believed to have a demon imprisoned within that would awaken at night, sowing discord, especially between lovers. Nowadays, strength-giving Onyx is a protective stone for dark nights and lonely places. Taking you forward to view the future, it is useful when a relationship needs stabilizing or when it has passed its sell-by date and needs releasing. Effective in past-life work for healing old injuries and physical trauma affecting the present life, it anchors the flighty into a stable way of life and imparts self-control. Onyx is thought to increase regeneration, happiness, intuition, instincts and also believed to decrease sexual desire and helps to change bad habits.
